Who is Aspirin 75mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets Suitable For?
Aspirin 75mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets are intended for adults aged 16 and over who have been advised by a doctor to take a daily low dose of aspirin. These tablets are often used for patients with a history of heart attack, stroke, or certain cardiovascular conditions to help prevent further events.
They are not suitable for children under 16 years of age unless specifically prescribed by a healthcare professional due to the risk of Reye’s syndrome.
Ingredients / Active Ingredients
Each tablet contains:
- Active substance: Acetylsalicylic Acid (Aspirin) 75mg
- Other ingredients: Maize starch, powdered cellulose, methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer dispersion, triethyl citrate, talc, sodium laurilsulfate
The gastro-resistant coating helps protect the stomach lining from irritation.
How to Use / Dosage Instructions
- Dosage by Age Group:
- Adults aged 16 and over: One tablet (75mg) daily.
- Not recommended for children and adolescents under 16 years unless directed by a doctor.
- How Often to Take It:
- Once daily, preferably at the same time each day.
- How to Administer:
- Swallow whole with water. Do not crush or chew the tablet, as this may damage the gastro-resistant coating.
- Duration of Use:
- For long-term use as prescribed by your GP or healthcare provider.
Possible Side Effects
As with all medicines, side effects may occur:
- Common: Indigestion, nausea, increased bleeding or bruising
- Uncommon or Rare: Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing), stomach ulcers or bleeding, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), or liver function changes
Seek medical attention if you experience any severe or unusual symptoms.
Warnings and Precautions
Do Not Use If You:
- Are allergic to aspirin, NSAIDs, or any listed ingredients
- Have a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding
- Have bleeding disorders such as haemophilia
- Are taking other blood-thinning medications without medical advice
- Have severe liver or kidney problems
- Are in the last trimester of pregnancy
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
Avoid during the third trimester. Only use under medical advice during early pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Driving and Using Machinery:
This medicine does not usually affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.
Interactions with Other Medicines

- Other anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin)
- Anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. ibuprofen, naproxen)
