Night Nurse Liquid provides night-time relief from cold and flu symptoms, helping you rest. It contains paracetamol, promethazine, and dextromethorphan to ease aches, congestion, and coughing.

Description

 

Who is it Suitable For?

  • Adults and adolescents aged 16 years and over.
  • Intended for those experiencing cold and flu symptoms at night, including aches, nasal congestion, sore throat, fever, and dry, tickly cough.

 

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

Active substances per 20ml dose:

  • Paracetamol 1000mg – relieves pain and reduces fever.
  • Promethazine hydrochloride 20mg – an antihistamine that eases nasal congestion and aids restful sleep.
  • Dextromethorphan hydrobromide 15mg – suppresses a dry or tickly cough.

Other ingredients: Sucrose, ethanol (alcohol), citric acid monohydrate, sodium benzoate, acesulfame potassium, flavourings, colouring agents, and purified water.

 

How to Use / Dosage Instructions

Dosage by age group:

  • Adults and children 16 years and over: 20ml using the measuring cup provided, once at bedtime.

How often to take it:

  • Take once daily at night. Do not take more than one dose in 24 hours.

How to administer:

  • Oral liquid – measure the dose carefully using the cup provided.

Duration of use:

  • Use for up to three consecutive nights. If symptoms persist, seek medical advice.

 

Possible Side Effects

Common: Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision.
Less common: Upset stomach, mild skin rash.
Rare: Allergic reactions (e.g. swelling, difficulty breathing), liver problems with prolonged or excessive use of paracetamol.

Stop use and seek medical help if you experience serious allergic reactions or other worrying symptoms.

 

Warnings and Precautions

  • Do not use if allergic to any ingredient, if you have severe liver disease, or if you are currently taking other paracetamol-containing medicines.
  • Avoid use if you have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) for depression in the past 14 days.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Not recommended.
  • Driving and machinery: Causes significant drowsiness – do not drive or operate machinery after taking.

 

Interactions with Other Medicines

  • Avoid combining with other paracetamol-containing products.
  • May interact with sedatives, antidepressants (including MAOIs), strong painkillers, or alcohol.

 

When to Consult a Pharmacist or Doctor

  • If symptoms persist beyond 3 days.
  • If you have a high fever that does not improve.
  • If you have breathing difficulties or persistent cough.
  • If you have liver or kidney problems and are unsure about use.

 

Storage Information

  • Store below 25°C.
  • Keep bottle tightly closed.
  • Keep out of sight and reach of children.
