Ingredients in Zovirax Cold Sore Cream Pump
- Active ingredient: Aciclovir 5% w/w
- Other ingredients: Dimeticone, cetostearyl alcohol, sodium lauryl sulphate, arlacel 165, white soft paraffin, propylene glycol, liquid paraffin, purified water
Dosage and How to Use
- For adults and children over 12 years old
- Apply a small amount of cream to the affected area five times a day at approximately four-hour intervals (e.g. morning, mid-morning, afternoon, evening, bedtime)
- Start at the first signs of cold sore symptoms (tingling, itching or redness)
- Continue treatment for up to 5 days, or for a maximum of 10 days if healing is delayed
- Always wash hands before and after application
Possible Side Effects
Although Zovirax is generally well tolerated, some people may experience:
- Mild burning or stinging after application
- Temporary dryness or flaking of the skin
- Mild redness or itching
- In rare cases, allergic skin reactions such as swelling or rash
