CalCough 1+ Year Children’s Syrup provides gentle, non-drowsy relief from dry, tickly coughs and sore throats. Suitable from 12 months, it contains glycerin and liquid sugar in a pleasant blackcurrant flavour, helping to soothe irritation and ease coughing.

Who is CalCough 1+ Year Childrens Syrup Suitable For?

  • Children aged 1 year and over.
  • Suitable for children with dry, tickly coughs or mild sore throats.
  • May be given to older children and adults if required.

 

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

  • Glycerin 0.75ml/5ml – active ingredient, coats and soothes the throat to reduce irritation.
  • Liquid sugar – provides additional soothing effect.
  • Other ingredients: Blackcurrant flavour, purified water, and excipients.

 

How to Use / Dosage Instructions

Dosage by age group:

  • Children 1–5 years: One 5ml spoonful, 3 to 4 times daily.
  • Children over 5 years and adults: Two 5ml spoonfuls, 3 to 4 times daily.

Administration:

  • Oral liquid, supplied with a measuring spoon.
  • Shake the bottle before use.

Duration of use:

  • Use as required, but if symptoms persist beyond 3 days, consult a doctor.

 

Possible Side Effects

CalCough is generally well tolerated. However, possible side effects may include:

  • Uncommon: mild stomach upset or diarrhoea.
  • Rare: hypersensitivity reactions such as rash or swelling.

Stop use and seek medical advice if your child experiences persistent or severe side effects.

 

Warnings and Precautions

  • Do not use if your child is allergic to glycerin or any other ingredient.
  • Not suitable for children under 12 months.
  • If symptoms persist for more than 3 days, consult a doctor.
  • Not designed to treat chest infections, asthma, or whooping cough.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding:

  • Adults who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a healthcare professional before use.

Driving and machinery:

  • No effects on driving or machinery are expected.

 

Interactions with Other Medicines

  • No significant medicine interactions reported.
  • Can be used alongside Calpol® Infant Suspension if pain and fever relief is also required.

  • Your child’s cough persists longer than 3 days.
  • Cough is accompanied by high fever, difficulty breathing, wheezing, or chest pain.

  • Keep tightly closed.
  • Keep out of sight and reach of children.
