Who is it Suitable For?
Acnecide 5% Gel is suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and above with mild to moderate acne vulgaris, including inflamed spots, blackheads, and whiteheads. It is not recommended for children under 12.
Ingredients / Active Ingredients
- Benzoyl Peroxide 5% w/w – an antibacterial and keratolytic agent that reduces acne-causing bacteria and helps clear blocked pores.
- Other excipients: include acrylates copolymer beads containing dimethyl isosorbide and glycerol, which help deliver the active ingredient effectively.
How to Use / Dosage Instructions
Dosage by age group:
- Adults and adolescents ≥12 years: Apply once or twice daily.
How often to use:
- Start with once daily in the evening, then increase to twice daily (morning and evening) if tolerated.
How to administer:
- For topical use only.
- Wash the affected skin gently with a mild cleanser, rinse with warm water, and pat dry.
- Apply a thin layer of gel to the affected areas.
- Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, nostrils, and sensitive areas.
Duration of use:
- Treatment may take several weeks before improvement is seen. Continue use as directed.
Possible Side Effects
Common:
- Dryness, redness, peeling, mild stinging, itching or burning at the site of application.
Less common/rare:
- Allergic skin reactions, swelling, severe irritation.
If severe irritation occurs, reduce frequency or stop treatment and seek medical advice.
Warnings and Precautions
- Do not use if you are allergic to benzoyl peroxide or any of the ingredients.
- Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, nostrils, mucous membranes, and broken skin.
- May bleach hair, clothing, towels, or bedding.
- Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: Can be used if necessary, but avoid application to chest if breastfeeding.
- Driving/Machinery: No known effect.
Interactions with Other Medicines
- Avoid using other topical acne treatments, medicated soaps, or cosmetics at the same time unless advised by a doctor.
- Concurrent use with strong exfoliants, peeling agents, or alcohol-based products may increase irritation.
When to Consult a Pharmacist or Doctor
- If acne does not improve after 12 weeks of consistent use.
- If you develop severe redness, blistering, or swelling.
- If acne is widespread, cystic, or causing scarring.
Storage Information
- Store below 25°C.
- Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use.

- Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
