What are Anadin Extra Caplets?

Anadin Extra Caplets are an over-the-counter oral analgesic used for the symptomatic relief of mild to moderate pain and fever. The combination of aspirin, paracetamol and caffeine works together to help relieve pain and reduce raised temperature associated with everyday conditions such as headaches, migraine, dental pain and period pain.

Anadin Extra Caplets are intended for short-term use only and should be taken at the lowest effective dose.

 

Who is it suitable for?

  • Adults
  • Adolescents aged 16 years and over

Not suitable for children under 16 years due to the risk of Reye’s syndrome.

 

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

Active ingredients (per caplet):

  • Aspirin 300 mg
  • Paracetamol 200 mg
  • Caffeine 45 mg

How to Use / Dosage Instructions

  • Adults and adolescents over 16 years:
    Take 1–2 caplets every 4 hours as required.

 

How often to take it

  • Do not take more frequently than every 4 hours.
  • Do not exceed 8 caplets in 24 hours.

 

How to administer

  • Oral administration.
  • Swallow caplets with water.

 

Duration of use

  • Use for the shortest time necessary.
  • Do not use for more than 3 days without consulting a doctor.

 

Possible Side Effects

Most people take this medicine without problems. However, side effects may include:

  • Stomach upset or indigestion
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Heartburn

Rare but serious side effects include stomach ulcers, bleeding, allergic reactions, or wheezing in susceptible individuals. Stop use and seek medical advice if these occur.

 

Warnings and Precautions

  • Do not exceed the stated dose.
  • Avoid taking other medicines containing paracetamol or aspirin at the same time.
  • Caffeine intake from other sources should be limited while using this medicine.

  • Are allergic to aspirin, paracetamol, caffeine or other NSAIDs

  • Have a bleeding disorder or are taking anticoagulants (unless advised by a doctor)
  • Are under 16 years of age

 

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

  • Not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the third trimester.
  • Not recommended while breastfeeding unless advised by a healthcare professional.

 

Driving or Machinery

  • This medicine is not expected to affect the ability to drive or operate machinery.

 

Interactions with Other Medicines

Consult a pharmacist or doctor before use if taking:

  • Blood-thinning medicines (e.g. warfarin)
  • Other painkillers or anti-inflammatory medicines
  • Medicines for gout, epilepsy or high blood pressure

How to Store

  • Store below 25°C.
