Anusol Plus HC Ointment provides soothing relief from piles (haemorrhoids) and anal irritation. Its dual-action formula combines hydrocortisone with other active ingredients to reduce inflammation, itching, swelling and discomfort.

Description
Who is it Suitable For?
- Adults and adolescents aged 18 years and over.
- Suitable for individuals experiencing haemorrhoids (piles), pruritus ani (itchy bottom), or minor anal irritation.
- Not recommended for children under 18 years without medical advice.
Ingredients / Active Ingredients
Active substances:
- Hydrocortisone acetate 0.25% w/w – a mild corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, swelling, and itching.
- Zinc oxide – soothes and protects irritated skin.
- Balsam Peru – promotes healing and provides mild antiseptic action.
- Bismuth oxide – has protective and astringent effects.
Other ingredients include wool fat, hard fat, and other excipients.
How to Use / Dosage Instructions
Adults and adolescents aged 18+:
- Apply a small amount of ointment to the affected area morning and night and after each bowel movement.
- Use the applicator provided for internal application if required.
- Wash hands before and after use.
Duration of use:
- Use for up to 7 consecutive days.
- If symptoms persist beyond this, seek medical advice.
Possible Side Effects
Most people use Anusol Plus HC without problems. However:
- Common: Mild stinging, burning, or irritation at the site of application.
- Uncommon/Rare: Allergic reactions such as rash, redness, or worsening irritation.
- Prolonged use: Can cause skin thinning (due to steroid content).
Stop using and consult a doctor if side effects are severe or persistent.
Warnings and Precautions
- Do not use if you are allergic to hydrocortisone, zinc oxide, bismuth compounds, balsam Peru, or any other ingredients.
- Do not use if you have a fungal, bacterial, or viral infection in the anal area unless directed by a doctor.
- Avoid long-term use, especially on broken skin.
- Pregnancy & breastfeeding: Consult your GP or pharmacist before use.
- Driving & machinery: No known effect.

- If you are already using corticosteroid creams, consult your pharmacist or doctor before use.
When to Consult a Pharmacist or Doctor
Seek urgent advice if you experience:
- Rectal bleeding, mucus discharge, or severe pain.
- Symptoms that do not improve after 7 days.
- Signs of infection such as swelling, pus, or fever.
