Who is it Suitable For?

Benylin Day & Night Tablets are suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over suffering from cold and flu symptoms, such as nasal congestion, fever, headache, sore throat, body aches, and runny nose.

Not suitable for children under 12 years.

 

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

Day Tablets (White):

  • Paracetamol 500 mg – relieves pain and reduces fever.
  • Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 60 mg – decongestant to ease blocked nose and sinuses.

Night Tablets (Blue):

  • Paracetamol 500 mg – relieves pain and reduces fever.
  • Diphenhydramine hydrochloride 25 mg – antihistamine that reduces runny nose and sneezing, while also aiding rest.

Other ingredients include: lactose monohydrate, maize starch, magnesium stearate, and colouring agents (night tablets).

 

How to Use / Dosage Instructions

  • Adults and children over 12 years:
    • Day: One white tablet every 4–6 hours, up to 3 tablets in 24 hours.
    • Night: One blue tablet at bedtime.
  • Swallow whole with water.
  • Do not exceed 4 tablets in 24 hours.
  • Duration: Use for no more than 7 days without medical advice.

 

Possible Side Effects

Most people tolerate Benylin Day & Night well, but some may experience:

  • Common: Drowsiness (night tablets), headache, dry mouth, nausea.
  • Uncommon/Rare: Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling), fast heartbeat, difficulty sleeping (day tablets), mood changes.
    Stop use and seek help if severe reactions occur.

 

Warnings and Precautions

  • Do not take if allergic to paracetamol, pseudoephedrine, or diphenhydramine.
  • Avoid if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, glaucoma, prostate problems, or overactive thyroid.
  • Do not take with other medicines containing paracetamol or decongestants.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Not recommended unless advised by a doctor.
  • Driving and machinery: The night tablet can cause drowsiness – avoid driving or operating machinery afterwards.

 

Interactions with Other Medicines

  • Do not take with other paracetamol-containing products.
  • Avoid use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of stopping them.
  • May interact with sedatives, antidepressants, and certain blood pressure medicines. Always consult a pharmacist.

  • If symptoms persist for more than 7 days.
  • If you develop a rash, high fever, chest pain, or difficulty breathing.
  • If you have ongoing medical conditions or take regular medicines.
  • If experiencing unusual side effects such as persistent drowsiness, confusion, or irregular heartbeat.
