Who is it Suitable For?

Corsodyl 1% Dental Gel is suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over. It is recommended for those who need short-term treatment and prevention of gum disease (gingivitis), management of oral infections, or for use after dental surgery or treatment when effective plaque control is required.

 

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

  • Active substance: Chlorhexidine digluconate 1% w/w.
  • Other ingredients: Macrogol 400, hydroxyethylcellulose, peppermint oil, levomenthol, propylene glycol, and purified water.

 

How to Use / Dosage Instructions

  • Dosage by age group:
    • Adults and adolescents (12+ years): Apply gel directly to affected areas or brush onto teeth.
    • Children under 12 years: Not recommended unless advised by a dentist or doctor.
  • How often to use:
    • Apply once or twice daily or as directed by your dentist or pharmacist.
  • How to administer:
    • Use a clean finger or toothbrush to apply directly to the teeth or gums.
    • Do not swallow. Spit out after use.
  • Duration of use:
    • Typically recommended for short-term treatment (up to 1 month) unless otherwise directed by a dental professional.

  • Common: Temporary taste disturbance, tingling, or mild irritation of the tongue.
  • Uncommon: Staining of the teeth, tongue, or fillings (can usually be removed by professional cleaning).
  • Rare: Swelling of salivary glands, allergic reactions such as rash or difficulty breathing (seek medical help immediately).

 

Warnings and Precautions

  • Do not use if you are allergic to chlorhexidine digluconate or any of the ingredients.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and ears. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly.
  • Prolonged use may cause tooth staining or increased tartar build-up.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Can be used if needed, but consult your doctor or dentist before use.
  • No known effects on driving or operating machinery.

 

Interactions with Other Medicines

  • Avoid using other oral care products containing anionic agents (e.g. sodium lauryl sulphate in some toothpastes) immediately before or after application, as they can reduce effectiveness.
  • Leave at least 30 minutes between brushing teeth with toothpaste and using Corsodyl Dental Gel.

  • If symptoms of gum disease or oral infection do not improve within one month.
  • If you experience signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the lips, face, or difficulty breathing.
