Who is it Suitable For?

  • Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and above.
  • Suitable for those with gum disease (gingivitis), mouth ulcers, or after dental surgery.
  • Not recommended for children under 12 unless advised by a dentist or doctor.

 

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

  • Chlorhexidine digluconate 0.2% w/v – an antiseptic that kills plaque bacteria.
  • Inactive ingredients may include ethanol, macrogol 400, propylene glycol, flavourings, sodium acetate, sodium saccharin, purified water.

 

How to Use / Dosage Instructions

  • Adults and children 12+: Rinse with 10 ml undiluted mouthwash twice daily.
  • Do not swallow. Spit out after rinsing.
  • Do not exceed recommended dose.
  • Duration: Use for up to 4 weeks unless advised otherwise by a healthcare professional.

 

Possible Side Effects

  • Common: Temporary taste changes, tingling or burning sensation, dry mouth.
  • Less common: Brown staining of teeth, tongue, or dentures with prolonged use.
  • Rare: Allergic reactions including rash, swelling, or breathing difficulties. Seek medical help immediately if these occur.

 

Warnings and Precautions

  • Do not use if allergic to chlorhexidine or any other ingredients.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and ears.
  • May stain teeth and tongue – stains are not permanent and can be removed by a dentist or thorough brushing.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Can be used if needed, but consult a doctor or pharmacist first.
  • Does not affect ability to drive or operate machinery.

 

Interactions with Other Medicines

  • Avoid using at the same time as toothpaste – it may reduce effectiveness. Brush teeth, rinse thoroughly, and wait at least 5 minutes before using Corsodyl.
  • No significant systemic medicine interactions reported.

  • If symptoms do not improve after 4 weeks.
  • If gum bleeding, swelling, or pain persists.
