Who is it Suitable For?

Eumovate Cream is intended for adults and children aged 12 years and over. It is used for the short-term treatment of eczema, dermatitis, insect bite reactions, and skin irritation where a mild-to-moderate corticosteroid is appropriate. It is not usually recommended for children under 12 without medical advice.

 

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

  • Active substance: Clobetasone butyrate 0.05% w/w.
  • Other ingredients: Glycerol, cetostearyl alcohol, chlorocresol (as preservative), white soft paraffin, liquid paraffin, and purified water.

 

How to Use / Dosage Instructions

Dosage by age group:

  • Adults and children aged 12+ years: Apply thinly to the affected area twice daily until symptoms improve.
  • Children under 12 years: Only under medical supervision.

How to administer:

  • For external use on the skin only.
  • Gently apply a thin layer to the affected skin, avoiding broken skin and eyes.

Duration of use:

  • Use for a maximum of 7 days without medical supervision. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a doctor or pharmacist.

 

Possible Side Effects

Most people tolerate Eumovate Cream well. However, possible side effects include:

  • Common: Mild burning, itching, or stinging at the site of application.
  • Uncommon/rare: Thinning of the skin, stretch marks, allergic skin reactions, or worsening of infection if used on untreated infected skin.

Seek medical advice if severe irritation, swelling, or signs of an allergic reaction occur.

 

Warnings and Precautions

  • Do not use if allergic to clobetasone butyrate, chlorocresol, cetostearyl alcohol, or any other ingredient.
  • Avoid use on the face, broken skin, genital areas, or infected lesions unless directed by a doctor.
  • Do not use under dressings or bandages unless instructed.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Should only be used if clearly necessary and under medical advice.
  • Driving and machinery: No expected effects.

 

Interactions with Other Medicines

  • No significant systemic interactions are expected with topical use.
  • Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are using other corticosteroid treatments to avoid overexposure.
