What are Gaviscon Advance Mint Chewable Tablets?

Gaviscon Advance Mint Chewable Tablets belong to a group of medicines known as reflux suppressants. They form a protective layer that floats on top of the stomach contents, preventing acid from rising into the food pipe. This helps relieve the pain and discomfort of heartburn, indigestion and reflux symptoms such as burning in the chest, sour taste, bloating and difficulty swallowing.

 

Who is it suitable for?

  • Adults and children 12 years and over.
  • Pregnant and breastfeeding women (when used as directed).
  • Children under 12 years should only take this medicine on the advice of a doctor.

 

Active Ingredients (per tablet)

  • Sodium alginate: 500 mg
  • Potassium bicarbonate: 100 mg

 

Inactive ingredients: Mannitol (E421), calcium carbonate, macrogol 20,000, magnesium stearate, aspartame (E951), mint flavour, acesulfame potassium, copovidone.

 

How to Use / Dosage Instructions

  • Adults and children 12 years and over: Chew thoroughly 1–2 tablets after meals and at bedtime, up to 4 times daily.
  • Children under 12 years: Only on medical advice.
  • For oral use only.

  • Allergy to sodium alginate, potassium bicarbonate, or any other ingredients in the tablets.

Interactions with Other Medicines

  • Wait at least 2 hours between taking Gaviscon Advance and other medicines, including antibiotics (tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones), iron salts, thyroid hormones, chloroquine, bisphosphonates, and estramustine.
