Who is Migraleve Pink Tablets Suitable For?

  • Adults and children aged 12 years and over.
  • Specifically formulated for the first stage of migraine attacks, particularly when symptoms include headache, nausea, and vomiting.
  • Not suitable for children under 12 years due to the risk of serious side effects from codeine.

 

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

  • Paracetamol 500 mg – relieves pain and lowers fever.
  • Codeine phosphate 8 mg – opioid analgesic for moderate pain relief.
  • Buclizine hydrochloride 6.25 mg – antihistamine that reduces nausea and vomiting.

Other ingredients include maize starch, magnesium stearate, stearic acid, povidone, and colouring agents.

 

How to Use / Dosage Instructions

Dosage by age group:

  • Adults and children 16 years and over: Two tablets at the first sign of migraine. If needed, take two Migraleve Yellow Tablets 4 hours later.
  • Children 12–15 years: One tablet at the first sign of migraine. If needed, take one Migraleve Yellow Tablet 4 hours later.

Maximum dose:

  • Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours for adults or 4 tablets in 24 hours for children 12–15 years.

How to administer:

  • For oral use. Swallow whole with water.
  • Must be taken as soon as migraine symptoms start for maximum benefit.

Duration of use:

  • Use for the shortest time possible.
  • Do not take for more than 3 days without medical advice due to the risk of dependence from codeine.

Common:

  • Drowsiness
  • Constipation
  • Nausea or vomiting

Rare:

  • Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling)
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Liver problems (especially with prolonged or excessive paracetamol use)

Warnings and Precautions

  • Do not use if allergic to paracetamol, codeine, buclizine, or any other ingredient.
  • Avoid if you have breathing difficulties, a head injury, raised intracranial pressure, or recently consumed alcohol.
  • Not for children under 12 years.
  • Do not use in those under 18 years after tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy for obstructive sleep apnoea.

Pregnancy/Breastfeeding:

  • Avoid during pregnancy unless prescribed by a doctor.
  • Do not take while breastfeeding—codeine may pass into breast milk and cause breathing problems in infants.

Driving and machinery:

  • May cause drowsiness; do not drive or operate machinery if affected.

 

Interactions with Other Medicines

  • Increased sedation if taken with alcohol, sedating antihistamines, antidepressants, or other opioid painkillers.
  • Avoid taking with other paracetamol-containing medicines to prevent overdose.
