Description
Who is it Suitable For?
- Adults and children aged 12 years and over.
- Intended for short-term treatment of moderate pain (e.g. migraines, dental pain, period pain, muscular pain) not relieved by ibuprofen, paracetamol, or aspirin alone.
Ingredients / Active Ingredients
- Ibuprofen 200 mg – a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces pain, inflammation, and fever.
- Codeine phosphate 12.8 mg – an opioid painkiller that works on the central nervous system to relieve pain.
Other ingredients include lactose, maize starch, sodium starch glycolate, stearic acid, and colloidal anhydrous silica.
How to Use / Dosage Instructions
Dosage by age group:
- Adults and children 12 years and over: 1–2 tablets every 4–6 hours as needed.
- Maximum dose: 6 tablets in 24 hours.
- Children under 12: Not recommended.
How to administer:
- Take orally with water.
- Preferably take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
Duration of use:
- Do not use for more than 3 days without medical advice due to risk of addiction and side effects from codeine.
Possible Side Effects
Common:
- Nausea, stomach pain, indigestion, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness.
Rare/serious:
- Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty), stomach bleeding, severe headache, confusion, mood changes.
Seek urgent medical attention for symptoms of allergic reaction, severe abdominal pain, or breathing problems.
Warnings and Precautions
- Do not use if allergic to ibuprofen, codeine, or any ingredients.
- Avoid if you have active stomach ulcers, bleeding disorders, severe heart, liver, or kidney disease.
- Do not use in children under 12, or in adolescents after tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy for sleep apnoea.
- Avoid if you have breathing problems, chronic constipation, or risk of opioid dependence.
Pregnancy/Breastfeeding:
- Not recommended, particularly in the third trimester of pregnancy.
- Codeine passes into breast milk — avoid while breastfeeding.
Driving/machinery:
- May cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. Avoid driving if affected.
Interactions with Other Medicines
Consult your pharmacist or doctor before use if taking:
- Other NSAIDs or aspirin
- Anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin)
- Corticosteroids
- Antidepressants (SSRIs)
- Sedatives or other opioids
- Blood pressure medicines or diuretics

- If you experience unexpected side effects
- If you have underlying medical conditions that may worsen with ibuprofen or codeine
- If you suspect dependency or misuse
