Who is it suitable for?
Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops are suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over who are experiencing nasal congestion due to colds, allergies (such as hay fever), or sinusitis. It is not intended for children under 12 years.

 

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

  • Active ingredient: Xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.1% w/v
  • Other ingredients: Benzalkonium chloride (preservative), sodium chloride, sodium dihydrogen phosphate, disodium phosphate, and purified water.

 

How to Use / Dosage Instructions

  • Adults and children over 12 years: One or two drops into each nostril, up to 2–3 times daily, as needed.
  • How to administer: Use as nasal drops only. Tilt the head back slightly, insert the dropper into the nostril, and instil the drops. Avoid touching the dropper to any surface or the inside of the nose.
  • Duration of use: Do not use for more than 7 consecutive days. Prolonged use may lead to rebound congestion.

 

Possible Side Effects

  • Common side effects: Temporary nasal irritation, dryness or burning sensation in the nose, sneezing.
  • Rare side effects: Headache, nausea, palpitations, or allergic reactions such as skin rash or swelling. If you notice unusual or severe symptoms, stop using the product and seek medical advice.

 

Warnings and Precautions

  • Do not use if you are allergic to xylometazoline or any other ingredients.
  • Avoid use if you have narrow-angle glaucoma, recent nasal surgery, or chronic nasal inflammation with crusts.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before use. Otrivine should only be used if clearly needed, and for the shortest duration possible.
  • Driving and machinery: Unlikely to affect your ability to drive or use machines.
  • Interactions: Do not use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or if you are taking certain antidepressants without consulting a healthcare professional.
  • Speak to a pharmacist or doctor if you are taking other decongestants or if symptoms persist beyond 7 days.

  • Store below 25°C in the original packaging.
  • Keep out of sight and reach of children.
  • Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.
