Who is it suitable for?

Otrivine Extra Dual Relief Nasal Spray is suitable for adults and adolescents aged 18 years and over. It is specifically designed for those experiencing both nasal congestion and runny nose due to colds or allergic rhinitis, such as hay fever.

 

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

Each spray contains two active ingredients:

  • Xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.5 mg/ml – a decongestant that reduces swelling in the nasal passages.
  • Ipratropium bromide 0.6 mg/ml – an anticholinergic that reduces nasal discharge.

Other ingredients include:

  • Sodium chloride, disodium edetate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, disodium phosphate dodecahydrate, hypromellose, and purified water.

 

How to Use / Dosage Instructions

Dosage by Age Group:

  • Adults and adolescents aged 18 years and over: One spray in each nostril up to 3 times daily.

How often to take it:

  • Leave at least 6 hours between doses.
  • Do not exceed 3 applications in 24 hours.

How to administer:

  • Nasal spray: Gently blow your nose. Shake the bottle, remove the cap, and spray once into each nostril while breathing in gently.

Duration of use:

  • Do not use for more than 7 consecutive days to avoid rebound congestion (rhinitis medicamentosa).

  • Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless advised by your doctor.

Driving or operating machinery:

  • May cause temporary blurred vision or dizziness. Avoid driving if affected.

Avoid using Otrivine Extra Dual Relief Nasal Spray if you are:

  • Taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or have taken them in the last 14 days.
  • Using other decongestant products, as this increases the risk of side effects.
