Description
Who is it Suitable For?
- Adults and children aged 12 years and over.
- Suitable for individuals with moderate pain not relieved by paracetamol, ibuprofen, or aspirin alone.
- Not recommended for children under 12 years due to the risk of opioid-related side effects.
Ingredients / Active Ingredients
Each tablet contains:
- Paracetamol 500mg – analgesic and antipyretic.
- Dihydrocodeine tartrate 7.46mg – opioid painkiller.
Other ingredients: maize starch, stearic acid, povidone, talc, sodium starch glycollate, and other standard tablet excipients.
How to Use / Dosage Instructions
Dosage by age group:
- Adults and children over 12 years: 1–2 tablets every 4–6 hours as needed.
- Maximum daily dose: 8 tablets in 24 hours.
How often to take it:
- At least 4 hours apart between doses.
- For short-term use only — up to 3 days without medical advice.
How to administer:
- Swallow tablets whole with a glass of water.
- Do not crush or chew.
Duration of use:
- Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time.
- If symptoms persist after 3 days, seek medical advice.
Possible Side Effects
Common:
- Constipation, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, or vomiting.
Rare:
- Allergic skin reactions, difficulty urinating, blurred vision, mood changes, confusion.
Seek urgent medical help if you develop breathing difficulties, swelling of the face/throat, or severe allergic reactions.
Warnings and Precautions
- Do not use if you are allergic to paracetamol, codeine, dihydrocodeine, or any other ingredients.
- Not for children under 12 years.
- Avoid in patients with:
- Breathing difficulties or chronic respiratory conditions.
- History of opioid dependence.
- Head injury, raised intracranial pressure.
- Acute alcohol intoxication.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
- Avoid during pregnancy unless advised by a doctor.
- Not recommended during breastfeeding — codeine can pass into breast milk.
Driving and operating machinery:
- May cause drowsiness or dizziness. Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.
Interactions with Other Medicines
- Avoid with other paracetamol-containing products.
- Increased sedation with alcohol, sedatives, or other opioids.
- May interact with MAOIs, some antidepressants, and certain sleeping tablets.
- Consult your pharmacist or doctor before use if on long-term medication.

- If pain persists beyond 3 days.
- If you have a high temperature, persistent headache, or signs of infection.
- If you notice any breathing difficulties or confusion.
