Description
Active Ingredients:
- Promethazine Hydrochloride 10mg
Inactive Ingredients:
- Lactose Monohydrate
- Microcrystalline Cellulose
- Maize Starch
- Stearic Acid
- Magnesium Stearate
Uses:
- Relief of allergic conditions such as hay fever, urticaria, and allergic rhinitis
- Prevention and control of nausea and vomiting, including that associated with travel (motion sickness)
- Short-term treatment of insomnia in adults
- Sedation for both adults and children
Dosage:
- Adults: 10mg to 25mg two or three times daily
- Children: Dosage should be determined by a healthcare professional
Always follow the prescribed dosage and consult with a healthcare provider for the correct dosage for children or elderly patients.
Warnings:
- Not suitable for children under 2 years of age
- Do not use if allergic to promethazine or any of the other ingredients
- Consult with a doctor before using if you have a history of breathing problems, sleep apnoea, or a chronic condition such as asthma, COPD, or a severe heart condition
- Promethazine may cause drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how it affects you
- Avoid alcohol as it can increase the sedative effects of promethazine
Side Effects:
Common side effects may include:
- Drowsiness
- Dizziness
- Dry mouth
- Blurred vision
- Constipation
Serious side effects requiring immediate medical attention:
- Severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, difficulty breathing)
- Uncontrolled movements (tardive dyskinesia)
- Confusion or hallucinations
Drug Interactions:
- Antidepressants, especially MAO inhibitors
- Sedatives, sleeping pills, and other medications that cause drowsiness
- Opioid pain relievers
- Muscle relaxants
- Other antihistamines
Always inform your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking to avoid potential interactions.
Storage:
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep out of reach of children
Precautions:
- Inform your doctor of your complete medical history before starting treatment with promethazine, particularly if you have a history of glaucoma, heart disease, liver disease, or urinary retention
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use
- Use caution in elderly patients as they may be more sensitive to the side effects
